Edinburgh Turnhouse (airport code: EDI) is Scotland's fastest growing airport and offers many domestic and international destinations for travellers in the Edinburgh region. Over 40 airlines fly from Edinburgh Airport serving over 100 destiantions. The airport now handles over 9 million passengers per year and this number is set to rise. Long haul flights to the US and various worldwide destinations are also provided at Edinburgh International Airport.

There is one terminal in the airport which operates flights to major centres across the UK, Europe, Asia and America. All international and domestic arrivals are located on the ground floor, while shops and restaurants are chiefly located on the first floor.

The departure area, check-in area and subsequent boarding gate at Edinburgh Airport will depend on your chosen airline and destination. Passengers flying from Edinburgh Airport are advised to arrive at the gate well in advance of departure.

Checking in at Edinburgh Airport

As passengers enter Edinburgh Airport, the check-in can be found on the ground floor of the terminal building. Travellers are advised to refer to their airline tickets for advice on check-in. Edinburgh Airport has a bureau de change and ATMs on the first floor of the departure area, and further bureau de change in International Arrivals hall on the ground floor. A first aid room and a pharmacy are also present in the airport. Further facilities include a left luggage facility which is located between the check-in and International Arrivals hall on the ground floor. It opens 7 days a week (05:00 - 23:00). Baby care rooms are also available. and are positioned next to the toilet facilities, in both the UK Arrivals hall and in the Departure lounge.

Most bars and food outlets are open from 6 in the morning until 10 in the evening. On the first floor visitors will find a variety of food outlets including Village Grill, Burger King, JD Wetherspoon and Jenners.

A unique shopping environment is provided at the airport, with a huge range of world famous designer brands and familiar high street stores, restaurants and bars provided. There is also a good choice of tax and duty-free outlets for passengers leaving the EU.

Facilities for those with disabilities include accessible toilets, ramps, lifts and a pick up-point near the information desk in the arrivals hall. Passengers are also recommended to advise their respective airline of any special needs in advance.

British Airways, British Midland and Servisair all have executive lounges with telephone, fax and computer log-on facilities for business passengers.
