FRINGE 2025 – YOUR GUIDE TO A MONTH-LONG FESTIVAL OF FUN

Are you visiting Edinburgh in August? Well, lucky you, you’ve just won the jackpot. In August, the city of Edinburgh becomes especially lively with comedians, musicians, magicians, street artists, and so on; over 3000 shows that not only offer you a way to pass time but raises your bar of what you define as entertainment.

But what’s the best thing? No matter your interests, the multi-angled nature of the Fringe ensures that you will find something that robs your heart and makes visiting Edinburgh an annual plan.

However, while Fringe having choice on top of choice is definitely a good thing, it is completely understandable if you get overwhelmed by the options. Theatre or comedy, musicals or magicians, each category has hundreds of shows and events. Which is why, to make things easier for you, we collected the most popular upcoming shows and ones of personal recommendations.

To start the list of with some laughs, as a personal favourite, Daniel Sloss will be attending the Fringe festival, bringing a Work in Progress (but already top-notch) performance with him that is full of laughter, feminism, and personal anecdotes. If you appreciate good humour, this show is not to be missed but rather be marked as a must-see.

For the magic-lovers, Sean Alexander’s 1 Moment in Time is the best option to get their mind AND their reality blown. From card-tricks to mind-reading, this magician amazes his audience left and right. But, if magic just doesn’t do it for you anymore and you’d like to fall under (or watch someone fall under) hypnosis, visit the show of Cameron Gibson that will question everything there is to know about the human brain.

If however, you have never been much of a fan of magicians, the world-famous drag queen show, The Lady Boys of Bangkok is back in town and ready to amaze you with their energetic, exotic, extraordinary show. Or, if you want to be stunned by performers at absolute heights, La Clique and the YUCK Circus are the shows that makes you appreciate artistry, bravery, and all the inconceivable things the human body is capable of. Might be worth bringing a neck pillow though! You’re going to be looking up at aerialists, one more talented than the next.

But these shows are not all Fringe has to offer. SHamilton, Sh!t-Faced Shakespeare, Trainspotting Live, and Hot Mess! (just to mention a few) are all crowd favourites, coming back every year to put some humour into everyday life.

Was this little taste into the flavours of Fringe not enough? Check out the official Fringe programme book and start buying and reserving tickets for your chosen shows. You will certainly have the best August of your life.
