THE BRUNTSFIELD – WELCOME TO EDINBURGH

The Bruntsfield Hotel sits in the heart of Edinburgh and hosts hundreds of visitors every year, all of whom it treats with comfort, relaxation, and a great time. Our hotel is favoured by many due to its beauty, history, and proximity to famous sights. However, The Bruntsfield stands out from the rest in its sustainability as well. We are the proud receivers of the Gold accreditation with Green Tourism.

HISTORY

The hotel is built on Borough Muir and is rich with many tales from ancient times. For instance, the area can proudly state that King James IV reviewed his troops there before the Battle of Flodden and was also a much loved hunting ground of Scottish nobles.

However, it wasn’t only deer and wild board that were unsafe in the Borough Muir. The place was rightfully avoided at night times thanks to the many outlaws and outcasts that inhabited the borough.

Luckily, down the line, the borough became safer for all after the foundation of the oldest golf clubs: the The Royal Burgess Golfing Society. The golf heritage turned so sacred that it even prevented Sir Walter Scott from drilling his troops.

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

The Bruntsfield Hotel is only a stone-throw away from the Meadows, which is the perfect place for a calm picnic, a tasty barbecue, or even just a slow walk surrounded by trees and sunshine.

But, if you had enough of the outside world, there are plenty of independent businesses that it’s worth to pay a visit to. For instance, if you fancy artisan products, Bakery Andante, Mellis Cheese, and Coco Chocolatier are a great choice.

However, if you’d like to treat yourself with some quality clothing, Vivaldi Accessories, Ooh! Ruby Shoes, and Biscuit Clothing has a selection that amazes all visitors. If you’d like to treat someone else, Curiouser or Rosie Brown is the best place to get a gift.

For coffee, visit Project Coffee, Chocolate Tree, or Honeycomb & Co and for delicious meals, check out Left Field Bistro, Cafe Grande, or Montpeliers.

However, if, after a tiresome day you don’t feel like trying different restaurants, The Bruntsfield hides more than just proximity to great food. We have a must-visit restaurant onsite, called The Neighbourhood, that offers homemade dishes, such as steak burgers, haggis, black pudding, and pizzas, all served in a cosy, atmospheric environment. While, our bar, has a wide selection of malt whiskeys, craft gins, cocktails, fine wines, and even a beautiful garden that is perfect for a chill night in the summertime.
